About Gay Little Histories

Gay little history zines are a project started by librarian and historian Ben Egerman in 2025. They are based on papers and resources linked here.

About Ben

Ben Egerman is a public librarian and historian living in Baltimore, Maryland. He travels to libraries throughout the state (or at least most of it) speaking about Maryland’s LGBTQ+ history. He’s trying this new thing out. We’ll see how it works.

This website is a place for Ben Egerman’s LGBTQ+ mid-atlantic history writings and events. From trans horse thieves to lesbian millionaires to important protests, Maryland’s history is far from straight-laced. Enjoy learning about the queer past!
